HC Deb 20 February 1919 vol 112 cc1136-7

OFFICER INTERPRETERS (GRATUITIES).

96. Lieutenant-Colonel Sir SAMUEL HOARE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will reconsider the former decision that excludes officer interpreters at prisoner of war camps from gratuities, and authorise them to receive gratuities at the end of their service upon the same basis as other officers?

Mr. CHURCHILL

My right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answer given on Monday last to a question on this subject put by my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Durham, which was to the effect that the case of these interpreters would be considered.
