HC Deb 20 February 1919 vol 112 cc1135-6
90. Mr. CROOKS

asked the Lord Privy Seal whether he is aware that local authorities have made application to the Treasury for reimbursement of expenses incurred in repairing damage to public works and sewers by hostile aircraft; that the Treasury have refused to accede to this demand; and whether, in view of the fact that this damage was a matter of national concern, he will have the question reconsidered?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I cannot add anything to the answer which I gave to the hon. and gallant Member for South-West St. Pancras on the 6th of November last, when I stated that the subject had again been considered by the Government, and that we did not think it would be right to transfer this expenditure from the local authorities to the Treasury.
