HC Deb 18 February 1919 vol 112 c747
85. Sir K. WOOD

asked the Home Secretary whether he will take steps at an early date to restore to litigants their rights of trial by jury which were suspended by the Juries Act?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir Gordon Hewart)

The Juries Act, 1918, has effect only during the continuance of the War and for six months thereafter. I do not expectany such change in the conditions which rendered the passing of the Act necessary as would justify further legislation before the end of that time.
