HC Deb 18 February 1919 vol 112 cc721-2
39. Colonel YATE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether twenty-eight days' furlough on full pay is granted to the officers as well as to the men on demobilisation; and whether the officer is permitted to wear his uniform for the same number of days after demobilisation as the non-commissioned officer or private?

Captain GUEST

The answer to the first part of my hon. and gallant Friend's question is in the negative, and to the second part in the affirmative.

Colonel YATE

Why should there be a difference in treatment between officers and men in this respect? Why should not officers be given 28 days' leave on pay as well as the men?

Captain GUEST

To a certain extent officers' gratuity is a set off against this furlough pay given to the men.
