HC Deb 17 February 1919 vol 112 c526
4. Mr. RAPER

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will cake steps to see that when the Government timber, control is abolished the officials of the Timber Supply Department will respect the information they have acquired, and not use it in business competition?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The position of temporary officers of the Timber Supply Department does not differ from that of similar officers in other Government Departments, all of whom are subject to the Official Secrets Act, and I have no reason to anticipate any violation of secrecy. The publicity given to the matter by my hon. Friend's question will emphasise the necessity of a strict observance of their undertaking.
