§ Mr. WARDLEThe practice of the Employment Exchanges is not as described by the hon. Member. Their procedure is to bring to the notice of applicants for work the terms and conditions offered by employers. For these they take no responsibility. They are, however, in a position to give applicants information as to district rates and conditions. The hon. Member will understand that grave difficulty might arise if the procedure which he suggests were followed, but it will have my consideration.
