HC Deb 18 December 1919 vol 123 c662
89. Major M'KENZIE WOOD

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that the Court of Chancery (Funds) Act, 1872, Section 4, does not relieve the Paymaster-General of the liability to vacate his seat and does not repeal the reference to that office in Schedule H of 30 and 31 Vie., cap. 102?

THE PRIME MINISTER

In a matter of this kind the Government must rely upon the advice of the Law Officers of the Crown. I cannot, therefore, add anything to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member on Monday last.

Major WOOD

Will the Government undertake to bring in a Bill of indemnity in the case of a common informer taking action against the Paymaster-General?
