40. Lieut.-Colonel Sir F. HALLasked the Minister of Health if he will state the number of additional houses for the building of which arrangements have now been made in consequence of the new subsidy scheme, and the number which it is expected will, under that scheme, be ready for occupation by 30th June, 1920?
§ Dr. ADDISONIt is hoped that 100,000 houses will be provided under the proposals contained in the new Housing Bill. The Bill provides that to qualify for the subsidy the houses must be completed within a year from the date when the Bill becomes law, or, in special cases, within sixteen months from that date. It is not, howeveŕ, possible to estimate at present the number of houses which will be completed under the scheme by the 30th June next.
