§ 48. Captain R. TERRELLasked the Prime Minister whether he is aware of the extreme shortness of supply of both spirits and beer at the present moment; and whether, in view of the approach of Christmas, he can hold out any hope of there being a better and cheaper supply?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of FOOD (Mr. McCurdy)I have been asked to reply. According to the Food Controller's information, present supplies of both spirits-and beer are fully adequate to meet all reasonable requirements. I am afraid, however, that no reduction in price is possible for the moment.
