Resolved, That, for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to make further provision for the better housing of the people, to authorise the acquisition of land for the development of garden cities or for the purpose of town-planning schemes, and to make further provision with respect to the borrowing powers of public authorities and bodies and with respect to the securities issued by them, it is expedient to authorse the payment, out of moneys to be provided by Parliament, of expenses incurred by any Government Department—

  1. (a) in making grants, not exceeding in the aggregate fifteen million pounds, to persons constructing houses in accordance with approved schemes;
  2. (b) when exercising the powers of a local authority in connection with the conversion of buildings into separate tenements; and
  3. (c) in contributing, by way of increase during the period ending the thirty-first day of March, nineteen hundred and twenty- 1269 seven, from thirty per cent. to fifty per cent. of the grant towards annual loan charges, to costs incurred by public utility societies, housing trusts, and county councils."—[Mr, Baldwin.]
