HC Deb 01 December 1919 vol 122 c34
66. Mr. HOHLER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions how many railway engines and railway trucks that were lying idle at Riehborough in September last have yet been removed; how many are still there; and for what period have they been there?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

I have been asked to reply to this question. The number of locomotives from Overseas on hand at Richborough on the 1st September was 118. One hundred and three have since been removed, leaving fifteen which arrived on various dates between the 10th July and 24th August. The number of railway trucks lying at Richborough on the 1st September was 307, all being twenty-ton box vans intended for use in France and out of gauge for British railways. As they are not required by the War Department overseas they have remained at Riehborough. These trucks have been handed over to the Disposal Board.
