Mr. EDWARD WOODasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that several highway surveyors of from fifteen to over twenty years' service under rural district councils in the West Riding of Yorkshire are likely to be displaced, without pension or other compensation, through the decision of the West Riding County Council to undertake the direct administration of the main roads of the county; and whether he can take any steps to ensure that suitable officials among those so displaced should receive first consideration in connection with any new appointments made by the West Riding County Council?
