HC Deb 13 August 1919 vol 119 c1271
6. Major Earl WINTERTON

asked the Secretary of State for India what steps; he is taking to inquire into the allegations regarding transport and medical breakdowns in the Indian Army operations against Afghanistan?

Mr. MONTAGU

I have caused inquiry to be made on every definite allegation that is brought to my notice, and I hope to lay Papers on the Table very shortly dealing with the medical arrangements in the North-West Frontier campaign.

Lieut.-Colonel Sir S. HOARE

Will the Papers be laid before the rising of the House for the holidays?

Mr. MONTAGU

I do not know when the House is going to rise, but I want to get out the telegrams that I have received from the Government of India as soon as possible, and I hope to have the Papers ready at the end of this week.
