§ 31. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKSasked the Prime Minister whether, having regard to the desirability of encouraging allotments in every possible way, he will introduce legislation giving the local authorities somewhat similar powers to those enjoyed during the War to enter unoccupied land and utilise it for allotments until it is required for building?
The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Sir Arthur Boscawen)I have been asked to answer this question. As I stated in moving the Second Reading of the Land Settlement (Facilities) Bill, Clauses 1 and 2 of that Bill will give to the local authorities the powers which my hon. Friend desires they should possess.
