HC Deb 14 April 1919 vol 114 c2494
53. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Prime Minister whether it is proposed to continue the existence of the Local Government Board; and, if so, what work will it do after the Health and Transport Ministries are set up?

Dr. ADDISON

I have been asked to reply to this question. If the Ministry of Health Bill becomes law, the Local Government Board will be merged in the new Ministry and will cease to have a separate existence. The second part of my hon. Friend's question, therefore, does not arise.

Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

May I ask whether, in addition to looking after the health of the nation, the right hon. Gentleman is now going to be responsible for the whole of the local government as well?

Dr. ADDISON

If the hon. Gentleman will look at the Bill he will see what Departments exactly it is proposed to transfer.

Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

I know the Clause. May I ask how and when we shall know what is going to be transferred—by Order-in-Council?
