asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state the number of staff employed by the Imports Restriction Committee of his Department; the buildings they occupy, and what has been the cost of this Committee for last year, and what is the estimated cost for this year?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The number of staff employed at the London offices of the Department of Import Restrictions is 109. The Department occupies fifteen rooms at No. 22, Carlisle Place, Westminster, and six rooms at No 16, Carlisle Mansions, Westminster. In addition the Department has a Paris branch, situated at No. 10, Place Edouard VII., where the staff consists of two persons. The approximate expenditure during the year 1918–1919 was £16,200, and the estimated expenditure for the current year is £22,525.
