HC Deb 10 April 1919 vol 114 cc2208-9
37. Major NEWMAN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the large stocks of petrol which are believed to be held in this country, he can give an assurance that no further increase in the selling price of motor spirit is contemplated; and can he say when a reduction in price can be expected?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

There is a fairly large stock of motor spirit available for civilian purposes at present in this country. Maximum prices for motor spirit are at present in operation, but I cannot say if any reduction in price is to be expected in the near future.

Major NEWMAN

Can I have an answer to the first part as to whether any increase is contemplated?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

Not by me.
