§ 73. Mr. HAILWOODasked the Food Controller whether he is aware that the Manchester meat supply averages 75 per cent. frozen meat and 25 per cent. home-killed, whilst in the case of Liverpool and Birkenhead these figures are reversed; and whether this distribution is due to the present lack of ships on the Irish cross-Channel service to Manchester?
Mr. ROBERTSThe hon. Member's statement is not correct. The average percentages of home-killed meat issued in the areas of Liverpool and Manchester have during the last few weeks been 49.4 per cent. and 51.7 per cent., respectively.
