HC Deb 10 April 1919 vol 114 cc2212-3
48. Mr. LESLIE SCOTT

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government are prepared to pay the whole-time valuers proposed by the Land Acquisition Bill salaries, and to employ them on terms of service and pension commensurate with the highly skilled and responsible posts they are to fill; and whether the rate of salary and other terms can be stated to the House before the Second Reading of the Bill?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir Gordon Hewart)

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As to the second part, I do not think the precise details can conveniently be settled at this stage.

Mr. SCOTT

Can the right hon. Gentleman give any information as to the amount and whether it will be commensurate?

Sir G. HEWART

I cannot name any particular figure, but I have not the smallest doubt that the salary will be adequate.
