20. Sir F. HALLasked the Secretary for War whether he is aware that a large number of unnecessary telegrams are 1836 being transmitted over the military wires in France; whether, on 28th March, a telegram of about 100 words was dealt with, the subject of which referred to the transmission of a privately-owned dog from France to England; and whether he will institute searching inquiries into the necessity for the maintenance of the present state of Army telegraph organisation in France with a view to a drastic reduction, both in the interests of national economy and of the men who volunteered in 1914 and 1915 and who are being compulsorily retained with the forces?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI am not aware of this, but inquiries are being made, and my hon. and gallant Friend will be informed of the result as early as possible.
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI should like to see it.
