HC Deb 05 November 1918 vol 110 c1926
61. Colonel BURN

asked the President of the Hoard of Trade whether he will take immediate steps to close the business of Messrs. Ludwig Krumm, of Offenbach O/M, who are trading at 8, Fell Street, City?

Mr. PARKER (Lord of the Treasury)

At the outbreak of War both partners in the business referred to by the hon. and gallant Member were naturalised British subjects, and while this status is maintained the Board have no power under the Trading with the Enemy Acts to order the business to be wound-up or discontinued. The Board of Trade are, however in correspondence with the Home Office as to whether the case of the senior partner falls within the recent British Nationality and Status of Aliens Act, and in the event of his certificate being revoked, the question of winding-up the business will be further considered.
