HC Deb 05 November 1918 vol 110 c1937
98. Mr. CRUMLEY

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether Lieutenant-Commander Leslie Edmunds, senior inspector to the Congested Districts Board for most parts of Galway and Clare counties, is discharging Admiralty duties over the same area; if so, whether he receives a separate salary and allowances from each Department; whether, while discharging Admiralty duties, he is paid £1 per night subsistence allowance and, if so, by which Department; and if he will consider the desirability of this officer devoting his whole time either to Admiralty work or the work of the Board?

Mr. SHORTT

Mr. Leslie Edmunds, senior inspector of the Congested Districts Board, is, with the sanction of the Board, discharging certain duties for the Admiralty on the coast of Galway and Clare counties. He receives from the Board, in addition to his salary, £1 1s. per night when absent from his home in Galway town on the business of the Board, but no subsistence allowance is paid to him by the Board when he is doing work for the Admiralty. Mr. Edmunds discharges his duties under the Board to their satisfaction, and they have no objection to a continuance of the present arrangement. I am not aware what allowances Mr. Edmunds gets from the Admiralty.
