§ The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Edward Shortt)In fixing the rents to be paid by allotment holders a local 944 authority is bound by a Regulation made by the Local Government Board, in pursuance of Section 1 (2) of the Local Government (Allotments and Land Cultivation) (Ireland) Act, 1917, that allotments shall be let at rents of such amount as may be expected to cover the expenses of the council in connetion with allotments. Any rent made in contravention of this provision would be illegal.
