Mr. WATTasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he intends to fix a maximum price for fish when sold wholesale, and, if so, when it will be done; is he aware that in some markets the wholesale men have combined and are refusing to sell below the maximum retail price, thus ruining the retail traders' business; and what steps he proposes to take to stop this method of dealing with his fixed prices?
§ Mr. CLYNESAn Order fixing the maximum price of fish at each of the principal stages from the producer to the consumer was signed on 14th March, and will come into force on 25th March. I am sending a copy to the hon. Member.
