HC Deb 11 March 1918 vol 104 cc3-4
1. Mr. BYRNE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been drawn to the recent poisoning by gas of four men on a ship loaded with grain and oil at North Wall, Dublin; whether he will hold an inquiry into the matter; what compensation and pension will be paid to the widows and orphans of the victims; and if the boat was Government controlled?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD Of TRADE (Sir Albert Stanley)

My attention has been drawn to this accident, and an inquiry will be held. The vessel was owned by the Government, and the question of compensation will be dealt with by the Ministry of Shipping.
