15. Major DAVIESasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he can now state the nature of the inquiries which were made with reference to the case of the transport used on the Bombay route in October and November last; and whether steps were taken to obtain evidence from the non-commissioned officers and men who were conveyed by this transport?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONIn view of further representations that have been received, I am having special reports called for from the officer in command of the troops on board, the medical officer in charge, and two other medical officers who did duty on the voyage, and from the shipping company concerned. I am also having inquiries instituted amongst the rank and file of the various drafts which were on board. I am afraid that all this investigation will take some time to complete, but I will let my hon. and gallant Friend know the result as soon as possible.
