HC Deb 04 March 1918 vol 103 c1692
26. Mr. A. K. LOYD

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he will consider the possibility of obtaining and making available for poultry keepers a supply of buckwheat seed?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Prothero)

The amount of seed available in this country is very small, but I shall give effect to the hon. Member's suggestion and endeavour to secure the importation of a further supply.

Mr. BILLING

Will the right hon. Gentleman say that he is anxious to encourage poultry keeping rather than no discourage it, and is he aware that a vast amount of this industry is being stamped out by the Government methods?

Mr. PROTHERO

We are very anxious to encourage poultry keeping to the utmost extent provided that economy is exercised in the use of grain
