Private Bills [Lords] (Standing Orders not previously inquired into complied with),—Mr. SPEAKER laid upon the Table Report from one of the Examiners of Petitions for Private Bills, That, in the case of the following Bill, originating in the Lords, and referred on the First Reading thereof, the Standing Orders not previously inquired into, which are applicable thereto, have been complied with, namely:

Sligo Corporation Bill [Lords].

Ordered, That the Bill be read a second time.

Brentford Gas Bill (by Order),

Order read for resuming adjourned Debate on Second Reading [20th March].

The CHAIRMAN of WAYS and MEANS (Mr. Whitley)

I had better, perhaps, say a word to the House as to the present position of these Bills. With regard to all of them, excepting two, I propose to move their postponement until this day week. The two exceptions are No. 11 [Maidenhead Gas Bill] and No. 19 [South Suburban Gas Bill]. Those two I propose to move over until to-morrow, when they will appear on the Paper with an Instruction to the Committee on the Bill to leave out such part of the Bill as refers to the question of the increased statutory price.

Mr. ROWLANDS

I should like to know whether I shall be able to say a word when he come to the South Suburban Bill as to what will be done with that part. It is one of the exceptions the Chairman of Ways and Means has named. Can I speak before it is put down for To-morrow?

Mr. WHITLEY

The hon. Member will be entitled to take objection to the Bill tomorrow, provided he is not in the meantime satisfied. I understand that his point may be satisfied when we come to it.

Mr. ROWLANDS

It may be.
