HC Deb 25 June 1918 vol 107 cc885-6
72. Mr. DIXON

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food if he has received a resolution of protest from the Boston and District Agricultural Union protesting against the new Order appointing factors to sell the potato crop of 1918 after 1st November; and if he can now see his way to allow the distribution to be carried out by the merchants on the lines of the 1917 crop, but without any subsidy, an arrangement that has proved satisfactory to the growers, the merchants, and the public?

Mr. PRATT (Lord of the Treasury)

The resolution referred to has been received. It appears to have been passed under a misapprehension, as no Order has been issued appointing factors to sell the potato crop of 1918. The distribution of this crop has been considered by a representative Committee, and their Report is now before the Ministry of Food.
