HC Deb 06 June 1918 vol 106 c1729
14. Mr. ARCHDALE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if, at the funeral of the released Sinn Feiner, John Cullen, on Sunday last in Dublin, the coffin was escorted by a large body of men armed with hurleys, and if volleys were fired over the grave by men armed with automatic pistols; and if such procedure is allowed?

Mr. SHORTT

A very large crowd attended this funeral, but I am informed that only about fifty youths carried hurleys. Some shots were fired over the grave, but the police have not been able to discover who fired them. One or two attempts to form in military order were made, but were immediately prevented by the police.
