HC Deb 06 June 1918 vol 106 cc1735-6
28. Mr. TIMOTHY DAVIES

asked the Minister of National Service whether he is aware of the feeling which exists in various parts of the country owing to the fact that professional men are engaged as National Service representatives in localities where they reside and carry on their business; and whether, with the view of removing any ground of suspicion in the public mind, he will arrange for the employment of these officers in other areas?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of NATIONAL SERVICE (Mr. Beck)

I am not aware of any suspicion in the public mind that the National Service representatives have not performed their difficult task with impartiality. Differences of opinion naturally arise from time to time, but to the best of my belief both the tribunals and the public are grateful for the services rendered by the National Service representatives.
