HC Deb 06 June 1918 vol 106 c1742
53. Sir A. FELL

asked if any officer is concerned with the protection from wilful damage of houses taken by the military for the billeting of troops; and whether it is the duty of the colonel to see that such damage as knocking holes in the walls of adjoining houses does not take place or that the perpetrators of such wilful destruction are punished?

Mr. MACPHERSON

This is a hypothetical question and, consequently, difficult to answer. But the whole question of responsibility for damage done to barracks and billets is discussed in the King's Regulations, paragraph 984 onwards. If my hon. Friend has in mind a specific case, and if he will give me the facts, I will be happy to look into the matter.

Sir A. FELL

I will do so.
