Mr. BOOTHasked the President of the Local Government Board if the Corporation of Pontefract has made application for an extension of the borough boundaries; whether a request has been made to postpone their request for an indefinite time; and whether the Board are now prepared to reconsider their decision?
Mr. FISHERThe town council of Pontefract applied in July, 1917, for a Provisional Order to extend the boundaries of the borough, and on 2nd August, 1917, my Department informed the council that they did not consider the time opportune for proposals of this character, and, in the absence of special circumstances, they would propose to defer consideration of the matter. I am not aware of any reason for altering this view.
