HC Deb 04 June 1918 vol 106 cc1391-2
20. Sir J. BARRAN

asked the Secretary for Scotland how many weeks it is since the Report of the Special Committee on Fisheries was presented to him; what is the reason for the delay in announcing action taken on this Report and in the publication of it; whether he is aware that, in view of the advancing of the season both for fishing and for netting, anxiety and even impatience is growing; and how promptly he can now act in the matter?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. Munro)

I assume that my hon. Friend refers to the second interim Report of the Scottish Freshwater Fisheries Committee. The Report reached me in the end of March, and has since been the subject of considerable discussion and correspondence. I am now in communication with the Treasury in regard to the proposals of the Committee. The Report will shortly be issued. I trust that some useful experimenal work may be carried out during the current season.

Sir J. BARRAN

Will the right hon. Gentleman undertake to push forward the results of this Report as quickly as he possibly can?

Mr. MUNRO

I can assure my hon. Friend that the matter is proceeding with the utmost expedition.
