§ 27. Major LANE-FOXasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether the general dissatisfaction existing among milk producers in York shire at the summer prices fixed for milk by the Ministry of Food is beginning to cause the reduction of dairy herds, and that local committees of inquiry set up by the Ministry have recommended a general raising of the price of milk; and whether some immediate decision will be published in the matter to prevent the further reduction of the milk supply?
§ Mr. CLYNESThe announcement as to increased prices has been delayed until the results of the various inquiries had been received. But it is hoped that the revised prices will be published in the course of a few days.
§ Major LANE-FOXWill the right hon. Gentleman do his utmost to get the announcement made as soon as possible, in view of the daily danger of a reduction in the milk supply?
§ Mr. CLYNESYes. I have been working on the matter this morning, and a large conference is to discuss it this afternoon. By this time I hope that the question of prices will have been concluded.
