HC Deb 29 July 1918 vol 109 c9
64. Mr. R. McNEILL

asked the Prime Minister whether it is the intention of the Government, after the Recess and before the close of the Session, to introduce legislation to amend the naturalisation law so as to alter the definition of natural-born citizenship and restrict the rights and privileges of naturalised persons; whether such legislation would require agreement with the Governments of the Dominions; and, if so, whether advantage is being taken of the presence of Ministers from the Dominions to arrive at an agreement for a complete reform of the naturalisation laws of the Empire?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement which appeared in the Press this morning. It is hoped that the first meeting of the special Conference referred to will be held this week, and until it has been held I cannot make any announcement as to legislation.
