§ 3. Colonel YATEasked the Secretary of State for India whether, considering that nothing has been done to increase the pay of the British officers of the Indian Army or to permanently improve the conditions of service of those officers since the commencement 1781 of the War, he will instruct the Government of India to consider the question of a substantial increase in the pay of the British officers at the same time as they are considering the question of a substantial increase in the pay of the Indian officers and men?
§ Mr. MONTAGUI would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answer I gave to the question asked by him on the 15th instant. Although the pay of British officers of the Indian Army has not been raised during the War, they have benefited substantially from various measures undertaken to improve the conditions of service. But I will communicate my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion to the Government of India.
