§ 77. Colonel ASHLEYasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, in view of the improved food supply, he will consider whether disabled discharged men suffering from physical ailments, which call for special nourishment, may be included under the supplementary ration scheme?
§ Major ASTORFood control committees have been instructed that all invalids suffering from certain specified diseases are entitled to the appropriate extra rations, and discharged soldiers and sailors are, of course, included in this 1642 concession. It is also within the discretion of food control committees to refer applications from invalids suffering from other diseases to the Ministry of Food for a grant of extra rations, and the committees have been specially instructed that they may adopt this procedure in the case of discharged soldiers and sailors. I hope that these arrangements will meet the cases to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers, and I am sending him the memoranda issued on the subject for the guidance of the local food control committees and of medical practitioners.
