HC Deb 18 July 1918 vol 108 c1263
Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

May I ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer to say what is the business to be taken next week?

Mr. BONAR LAW

On Monday, we propose to take the Report stage of the Trades Boards Bill, the Statutory Undertakings (Gas) Bill, the Public Works Loan Bill, and the Financial Resolutions of the War Obligations Bill.

Tuesday: Further stages of these Bills and Supplementary Estimates.

Wednesday: Continuation of the Bills that are still on the Paper.

As regards Thursday, I shall make an announcement later.

Mr. G. LAMBERT

Will the right hon. Gentleman say when he proposes to take Vote A—Navy Vote? Will it be next week?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I cannot say definitely when it will be taken, but there may be no Supply Day next week.

Mr. SAMUEL

Will the right hon. Gentleman say what business will be taken if the House sit to-morrow?

Mr. BONAR LAW

We only propose to take the remaining stages of the Naturalisation Bill and the Third Reading of the War Loan Bill.

Mr. HOGGE

Is the right hon. Gentleman in a position to say when the Adjournment will take place?

Mr. BONAR LAW

We have been hoping for some time that it will be possible to have the Adjournment about the 8th of August, and I still hope that may be possible.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Seeing that the Government is trying to fill in time, would it not be possible to have a day for a discussion of the League of Nations?

Mr. BONAR LAW

My hon. and gallant Friend is quite mistaken. Although the Bills may not seem in themselves very important, they have to be done, and we find it difficult, even as it is, to get them in time.

Resolved, "That this House do sit tomorrow.—[Mr. Bonar Law.]
