HC Deb 17 July 1918 vol 108 cc1076-7
The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Lloyd George)

I beg to move, That this House will attend at St. Margaret's, Westminster, on Sunday, the 4th August, being the fourth anniversary of the declaration of war, to invoke the Divine Blessing on our just cause. 4.0 P.M.

When millions of our young fellow countrymen are daily hazarding their lives, so that right and justice may prevail on earth, when the fate of our country and the destinies of the earth depend on the issue of their efforts and the efforts of their comrades from many lands, it requires no words from me to commend to the House of Commons a Motion, that on the fourth anniversary of this terrible struggle, the representatives of the nation should attend a special service, to invoke the Divine Blessing on our just cause and on the brave men who are upholding it.

Mr. ASQUITH

The Motion which the right hon. Gentleman has made will be universally regarded as fitting and appropriate, and will surely commend itself to the House of Commons.

Question put, and agreed to.
