43. Mr. T. WILSONasked the Minister of Munitions if he is aware of the dissatisfaction among a number of workpeople employed in munition works in a certain district, who, owing to shortage of housing accommodation, are compelled to travel from 10 to 15 miles to and from their work each day, at the increases they have to pay for their railway tickets; and whether, under these circumstances, he will make arrangements for these people to travel at the old rate?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of MUNITIONS (Mr. Kellaway)My hon. Friend's question is the first intimation I have received of the difficulty to which he refers. I am having inquiries made to ascertain if the numbers of workmen affected are sufficient to warrant application being made to the railway authorities for the issue of workmen's tickets, which are still issued at the old rate.
