Mr. BECKETTasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can yet state the decision arrived at as to the making of Grants to local authorities for the repair of roads damaged by the haulage of timber used for national purposes; and whether he is aware that, owing to the delay of the Board in affording relief, local authorities have in certain cases been compelled to issue writs against the contractors for the damage done, and thus much waste of time and money has occurred?
