Colonel McCALMONTasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether officers are gazetted out of the Army while they are still patients in hospital as the result of wounds or sickness contracted on service; if so, whether they are then called upon to pay towards their maintenance; and whether officers entitled to retired pay are treated differently to others in this respect?
§ Mr. FORSTEROfficers whilst still in hospital may be gazetted out of the Army in certain circumstances. No charge is now raised against officers so retained in hospital, whether they are entitled to retired pay or not.
