§ 61. Sir I. PHILIPPSasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider the desirability of appointing a Select Committee of this House to inquire into and check the expenditure of men and material in this country and abroad in connection with the War in the same manner as has been done in the case of the expenditure of pounds sterling?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWI am not prepared to adopt the suggestion of the hon. and gallant Member.
§ Sir I. PHILIPPSIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that in all successful business organisation it is as important to consider the economical use of manpower and the efficient supply of machinery, etc., as it is to have a sound financial scheme, and will he look into this matter and reconsider it?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWI am aware of that, but I do not think the method suggested would be the best to secure it.
