§ 76. Lord H. CAVENDISH-BENTINCKasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware of the dissatisfaction among the temporary women clerks employed at the War Office with the favouritism shown in granting promotion; and whether, seeing that the work is largely of a very simple character, promotion for special work will be given to senior clerks and not to juniors for no 1402 reason apparently except that they are on friendly terms with the heads of their Departments?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONNo, Sir; I am not aware of any dissatisfaction as is suggested, and I can assure my Noble Friend that each case of promotion is carefully considered and dealt with on its merits. If he has in mind any particular case, I will look into it.
