HC Deb 29 January 1918 vol 101 c1412
9. Colonel ASHLEY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that Private H. Deane, No. 20,042, late Ealing National Reserve and the 63rd Provisional Battalion, and Private H. N. M'Nevin, No. 76, late National Reserve, attached 1st Supernumerary Company, 8th Middlesex Regiment, have not received their National Reserve gratuity; why these gratuities have been withheld, in view of the fact that the battalion in which these men were serving was paraded on the 4th or 5th August, 1914, and asked to volunteer to sign an honourable obligation, and that the whole battalion did so; and, as the majority of the men received their gratuity, will he take steps to satisfy the claims of the above-mentioned men?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

I will make inquiries, and I shall be very glad if my hon. and gallant Friend will assist me in obtaining the necessary information.
