HC Deb 17 January 1918 vol 101 c469
15. Mr. BYRNE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland to whom owners of property destroyed during the rising in Dublin can apply for a rehearing of their claims; if he is aware that there are at least three firms in Dublin who cannot rebuild their premises on the amount of compensation awarded; and if he will see that a judicial inquiry is granted?

Mr. DUKE

There can be no rehearing of the claims in question. The awards to which the hon. Member refers were made ex gratia and not in recognition of any right to compensation.
