HC Deb 17 January 1918 vol 101 cc470-1
Major HUNT

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he is aware that the National Union of Railwaymen in South Shropshire are complaining that the co-operative societies are not getting their fair share of food-stuffs; and will he have inquires made into the matter, in view of the fact that the railwaymen consider that vested interests are interfering with fair distribution?

Mr. CLYNES

The provision of supplies to particular areas is a more urgent problem than the investigation of complaints by particular firms. If the hon. and gallant Member is satisfied that there is an avoidable shortage of supplies in the district to which he refers and will supply me with particulars, immediate steps will be taken to remedy the grievance.
