HC Deb 21 February 1918 vol 103 c913
56. Mr. ROWNTREE

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the misunderstandings existing in many quarters as to the intentions of the Government regarding the policy they are going to adopt on the cessation of hostilities regarding the demobilisation of the Army, he can now make any authoritative statement on the question?

The MINISTER of RECONSTRUCTION (Dr. Addison)

I have been asked by my right hon. Friend to answer this question. I am not aware of the misunderstandings to which the hon. Member refers, but I would draw his attention to the communication made by the Ministry of Labour to the newspapers of the 18th instant. The general scheme with regard to demobilisation has been settled. Certain administrative arrangements are still under consideration; and on these matters I am in consultation with the Secretary of State for War and the Minister of Labour.
