HC Deb 21 February 1918 vol 103 cc896-7
18. Mr. BOLAND

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland what steps, if any, have been taken to secure the construction of a tank for fish-curing purposes, and to ensure the necessary supplies of ice during the coming season at Renard, near Cahirciveen; and, in view of the urgent necessity for suitable piers at Valentia Harbour to enable fish to be landed, what action has been taken by the Congested Districts Board in the matter?

Mr. DUKE

The Congested Districts Board are endeavouring to obtain a supply of steel for reinforced concrete for the tank, and also for the ice store at Renard Point, and all possible steps are being taken to expedite completion of these works. I regret it has not been possible to obtain a Grant for the proposed pier at Renard Point, but the Development Commissioners are being again applied to.
